This reminds me of the wonderful work Pascal Mueller has been doing with City Engine.

The video is from an upcoming game called Subversion, by indie game company Introversion, the makers of one of my favourite games, Darwinia.

This comes at things from a different perspective; it's a variation on the classic game Qix called Gamescape. It's available there as a download for Mac OSX.
